MY HOME AND GARDEN IN NUMBERS
Children have been working these two topics:
Resources:
Even and odd story by Susan Beasley
Video about Hundreds, tens and ones by Mathsongs
After they have worked these two resources, children have had fun with the material as clay, creating their own garden and using odd and even numbers; the second task was about using 'Hundreds, tens and ones" pieces to build their own houses, creating their own numbers and using the pieces they have selected for their favourite homes.

Mid Calder Nursery explore birthday numbers on the friendship trains!
The children in the nursery are allocated a key worker and join a group, either the red, blue or yellow group. We made friendship trains for each group, using coloured shaped paper. The children are exploring early number labels by concentrating on their own special number, their age!

Primary 1 - use colour to sort objects into groups
In Primary 1 at Mid Calder Primary children between the age of 4 and 5 use colour to sort items into groups. This is the beginning of their number skills. The teacher can then assess the children on their understanding of one to one correspondence.

Shape and Pattern
P2B made shape pictures of the houses on the Isle of Struay after reading stories of Katie Morag. We used circles, squares, rectangles and triangles to make our pictures. Katie Morag is a picture book all about life on Scottish islands. The author is Mairi Hedderwick. The children (age 5 and 6) were learning about 2D shapes.
